E306–E309 — Tocopherols (vitamin E)

Antioxidants (vitamin E forms) that keep oils from going rancid — very common in vegetable oils, snacks, and infant formula.

Allergen connection

Commercially they are most often extracted from soybean oil. Like refined soy oil, the finished additive carries virtually no soy protein, and EU rules exempt fully refined soy derivatives from allergen labelling — which is why you may not see “soy” next to E306. Most soy-allergic people tolerate them; ask your allergist where your line is.
